The City of South Lyon is committed to supporting new and existing businesses. Economic Development, working in conjunction with the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), aims to create an environment conducive to the growth of business while maintaining the interests of the community as a whole.
Our Downtown: City administration and elected officials have made downtown South Lyon a priority. The City and the DDA are actively working to promote economic growth and development of the downtown business district while preserving the City's historic character. The creation of an attractive downtown will serve as a center for business, social and community activities and spur development for the entire City.
Main Street Oakland County: A key facet of this initiative is participation in Main Street Oakland County, a partner of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Main Street is an economic development program specifically targeted to provide technical and financial assistance for the purpose of establishing and maintaining successful, comprehensive, and ongoing revitalization in traditional downtowns. South Lyon recently became a Main Street Mentor Community and will be working towards becoming a full-fledged Main Street Community in the near future.
