Announcing New Foreclosure Prevention Help

A new web portal has been created to provide homeowners in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw counties with one trusted source to obtain the assistance they need to help avoid foreclosure. Homeowners can go to the web portal to start the process that will connect them with housing counselors from non-profit housing counseling agencies for free help and other foreclosure prevention resources. The sooner homeowners take action, the more options they have.

This web portal, a free service, as are the counseling services, is the result of a regional collaborative of county governments, organizations and nonprofits in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw counties and the Southeast Michigan Regional Foreclosure Intervention and Neighborhood Stabilization Collaborative (FINSC).

The web portal for Oakland County is administered by the Oakland County Treasurer's Office.

South Lyon Initiates Adopt a Flag Program

The "Adopt a Flag" program is actually being initiated as a Boy Scout Eagle project to help provide the money to continue support for the US flag as well as the beautification of the City. Through this program, people will donate a fee of $35.00 to purchase a flag to hang along Pontiac Trail and Lake Street. Along with each flag will be a banner noting the name of the person/s or organization the flag has been donated by or in memory of. These items will remain on the light poles for the life of the flag. Once the flag has reached its full maturity, it will then be removed and respectfully retired by the Boy Scouts of America through the local VFW post.

For more information on this project and for an application click here.
